part of lane 1.
Warm Ups
Home Team 7:10 am to 7:40 am, Visiting Team 7:45 am to 8:15 am.
Meet is expected to start at 8:30am.
Scratch Meeting
Both Teams must participate in a scratch/add meeting which
shall be held at a reasonable time immediately before the
commencement of the meet and not later than 30 minutes before
the start of the meet, so as not to delay the start of the
meet. The Piranhas would like to begin the scratch meeting
no later than 7:30am. SWIMMERS WHO HAVE NOT ARRIVED BY THE
TIME OF THE SCRATCH MEETING WILL BE SCRATHCHED AND UNABLE
TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MEET.
Stroke & Turn Meeting
The Meet Referee will meet with the Stroke and Turn Judges
at approximately 8:00am near the lane 1 starting block to
review various officiating issues. Please have all Stroke
& Turn Judges who are working that day present at the
meeting. The Piranha Head Stroke & Turn Judge will provide
DQ slips, clipboards, and pencils.
Starts, Strokes, Turns, and Disqualifications (DQs)
United States Swimming rules are in effect with the following
noted:
According to the League Bylaws:
- There will be one false start per event allowed any
swimmer for age groups 6 and under, 7-8 and 9-10. There will
be no false starts allowed any swimmer for age groups 11 and
older. A swimmer who is disqualified for a false start shall
not be permitted to swim the event (not even unofficially).ß
USS Rule 101.3.1 (B) governing backstroke starts is
amended to read in part as follows:
Prior to the command 'take your mark' and until the
feet leave the wall at the starting signal, parts of both
of the swimmers feet must be partially or fully submerged.
The Piranhas strongly believe in the recreational intent of
the League and will proceed on the issue of Stroke & Turn
Judges and DQs as agreed to by the League as follows:
- All Stroke & Turn Judges are encouraged to attend the
voluntary League Stroke & Turn training. Every Stroke
& Turn Judge should watch the Stroke & Turn video.
-Each team shall take steps to ensure that each Stroke &
Turn Judge has either attended the clinic or been trained
with the video and officials from each team with sufficient
experience. The League Representatives should keep track
of the Stroke & Turn Judges to monitor that each judge
is qualified.
- All
heats in all events will be judged for legal strokes and turns.
- All
heats will be judged and DQ slips issued and entered into
the computer system as judged. Head Coaches will get DQ slips
for discussing with swimmers.
- Dual
confirmation on relay take-offs will occur. The Meet Referee
and Head Starter will dual confirm with the Stroke & Turn
Judges.
Timer Meeting
The Piranha Head Timer will meet with morning shift timers
at approximately 8:20am near the lane 1 starting block. The
Piranhas use a Colorado timing system that requires three
(3) timer button-pushers in each lane.

Events with Extra Heats
To be mutually determined and agreed upon by coaches of both
teams prior to seeding of meet. If coaches are not able to
make contact with each other by the Wednesday prior to the
meet, the home team shall do what it believes most prudent
regarding seeding and heats so the meet concludes by 1:00 pm.
Check In
The Piranha check in table will be at the pool entrance gate.
Please have all swimmers checked in by 7:15 am so the coaches
can complete their scratch meeting and the meet can begin
on time.
Ready Bench
The ready bench will be located behind the starting blocks
on the east side of the pool. Please listen for event status and have
swimmers at the ready bench on time.
Meet Time Limit
EGCSD has not imposed time limits, however, we will expeditously complete meets to lower our meet pool rental costs. We hope to have meets concluded by 1:00 pm.
Team Set Ups
There is a large grass area at the west side of the pool to set up shade structures. See drawing
on Location and Meet Info Page for designated Home and Visiting Team set up areas. Age
groups should locate together and Team Parents should make
signs so that swimmers can find their age groups.
Snack Bar
The "Cafe Aqua " snack bar provides a wide variety
of breakfast, lunch, and snack menu items at very reasonable
prices.
BMW Aquatic Center Rules
The BMW Aquatic Center is operated by the Elk Grove Community Services District. Because the EGCSD will likely have other aquatic activities occurring at the same time as our meets (but at different pools), it is IMPERATIVE that swimmers from both teams remain at the competition pool only and do not enter any other pool or playground in the complex. Swimmers found violating this rule will be ejected from the meet. Swimmers may use the restroom and shower facilities of the complex if they treat these areas with respect and leave them in a clean condition. The Piranhas are very proud of their new home and wish to maintain a good working relationship with the EGCSD.

Even though they may have finished all of their individual events, they may still be placed in the final freestyle team relays. If a swimmer is missing the entire relay team will be scratched. The relays are worth a lot of points so scratching a team is a big ouch and disappointment to your teammates!!
The Piranhas look forward to a fun and competitive swim meet
and we ask for parent support, patience, and understanding
should any issues arise on the day of the meet. Good luck
to all swimmers!
