Team Parent Tips

As the swim season gets into full swing, we are posting some links to helpful information for Team Parents. The first link is to a sample of a “Meet Line-up Sheet” similar to the one that Team Parents will be provided around 8:00 am on meet days. One “Meet Line-up Sheet” will be generated for each sex/age group. It lists the name of the swimmer, event #/type, heat #, lane #, and swim leg if the event is a relay.

Team Parents need to get their swimmers to the ready bench when their event is called by the announcer. They are responsible for lining up the kids in the order in which the event will be swum. Older swimmers, (i.e. those in the 13/14 age groups), may choose to take responsibility for getting themselves to the ready bench.

To help with these tasks, we have also provided links to two Word documents you may find useful in organizing your age groups once you receive your Meet Line-ups.

The first document, the “Blank Race Slip,” can be filled out for each swimmer and provided to them so they are aware of which events they are swimming as well as which heat, lane number, and leg. Each page has space for three different swimmers and their events. Once you have your age group list, this form can be easily modified by adding each swimmers name. Then, on meet day, you can use the “Meet Line-up Sheet” to fill in the information on the “Race Slip.”

The second document, the “Meet Organization Form,” is one way you can organize your group for movement to the ready bench. Once you know the approximate size of your age group, you can customize this form to your specific group and typical numbers of heats.

Note that use of these documents is voluntary. If you already have a system that works – great!  Otherwise we hope you find these documents helpful.
